Yes, ‘Learn to Talk – The Series’ features Baby Sign Language together with several other techniques to help encourage your child to say their first words. The ‘Learn to Talk’ app also features a library of over 200 Baby Sign Language words that you can watch, practice and learn whenever you want.

There are various types of Baby Sign Language and while they all have slight differences the primary aim is to help encourage your baby to communicate and then say their First Words. Our signs are primarily based on British Sign Language (BSL) but not exclusively.

There are various other types of Baby Sign Language people use including American Sign Language (ASL), Sign Supported English (SSE), Makaton and Signalong. You can find more information on the different types of baby sign language here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/tiny-happy-people/articles/zphpvj6

Baby Sign Language is typically introduced to children around the age of 6 months and can continue using it until the child begins to speak proficiently, however each child is different and parents should decide what and when it could be appropriate for their little one.

Babies typically say their first words around 12 to 18 months. These initial words are often simple and related to everyday objects or people, such as “mama” or “dada.” However, the timeline can vary, with some babies speaking earlier and others later so don’t worry if you are not within this timeframe as every child is different!
